Her achievements as a child performer in America (which is known as Maureen O'Hara today) would be a sure signification for her to the child-prodigy category. However, for an Irish girl who was surrounded by gifted parents and extended family these qualities were natural. Maureen arrived in this nurturing sanctuary on August 17th, 1920. She was raised by her parents and family members. Marguerita FitzSimons was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer team in Ireland, and also ran the Shamrock Rovers soccer club and a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons complete this wonderful family. Maureen did well as a sporty woman and played rough, athletic sports when she was a young. Her ability to perform perfectly complemented her love of athletics. The fact that she was awarded nearly all Feis prizes for her own country's drama and theatre performances was a testament to the fact that she was a natural performer. When she turned 14, she was admitted into the world-renowned Abbey Theater and pursued her dream of classical theater along with operatic music.
