Aunjanue Ellis

Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor is an American screen and stage actress best known for her film roles in Ray Undercover Brother and on the TV show The Mentalist. She graduated with a BA in Brown University in African-American Studies. In the Tisch School of the Arts, New York University she obtained an MFA. Aunjanue Lisa Ellis is a producer and American actor active in the theatre as well as television and film. She started acting on stage and then appeared in independent, mainstream and TV series. Her most well-known roles were as Miranda Shaw (ABC's Quantico) as well as on BET's epic The Book of Negroes. The series both received praise from critics, and she also received a number of prizes. In 1995, she made her debut as Ariel on stage as Ariel in The Tempest. On Broadway she's appeared on stage in Come and Gone A Winter's Tale Seeking the Genesis and Joe Turner's Come and Gone. Her film work is highlighted by her appearances in Men of Honor The Caveman's Valentine The Express, and The Help. In television, her role on ABC's drama about police High Incident is well known.
